Doncaster Council and St Leger Homes
What we do
Doncaster Council aims to reduce fuel poverty, maximise income through fuel savings and reduce carbon emissions by providing a variety of services which utilises external funding to make energy efficiency measures more affordable and effective.
Our involvement in the scheme
Doncaster Council will provide energy efficiency works via St Leger Homes in the areas of Wheatley, Thorne and Dunscroft, some of the most vulnerable communities in the local authority area. Doncaster Council will also support the programme and its partners through the provision of a dedicated Low Carbon Economy Officer, sharing best practice and exploring new ways to develop the partnership.
What we've achieved so far
To May 2012 263 households had benefited from Household Assessments and Home Energy Advice in the Wheatley area.
Works have taken place in the three areas installing external wall insulation to improve the thermal standards of the non-traditional, solid wall households. To August 2012 85 properties have received the ERDF funded measures.
In addition to the ERDF funded activity Doncaster Council have also installed complementary measures including loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, heating controls and boiler upgrades to ensure all homes become as energy efficient as possible, this reducing fuel bills for residents.
