What is the BIG Energy Upgrade?

The BIG Energy Upgrade has attracted £14.9m funding and is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund Programme 2007 to 2013. The Department for Communities and Local Government is the managing authority for the European Regional Development Fund Programme, which is one of the funds established by the European Commission to help local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support local businesses and create jobs. The aim of this innovative programme is to deliver energy efficiency and renewable energy measures in houses within a minimum of 10 of the most deprived communities across 6 Local Authorities within Yorkshire and the Humber, creating 114 new jobs and safeguarding many more jobs in the related sectors.
